Background info:
Holord. XD;;; There's a LOT of stuff to say about Robin~

THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR LE CHEVALIER D'EON
Robin, the youngest of the "Four Musketeers", is Queen Marie's page boy. Robin got caught up in d'Eon's quest when he saw d'Eon-turned-Lia killing Bernice. When d'Eon rides out of Versailles for Paris for the second time to find out the truth about Lia's death, Robin follows him, saying he is under orders from the queen. Robin's actually pretty close to the Queen, it seems. Queen Marie took him in when he was orphaned at a young age. Because of her, he had opportunities to study academics and combat that he wouldn't have had otherwise. The queen is somewhat of a foster parent for him. To him, she shares her speculation about d'Eon getting orders from the king. She even entrusts him with some information about the powerful Psalm of the King. She refers to him as "my little knight" as a term of endearment later on in the series.

Robin is extremely loyal to the Queen. When d'Eon didn't hand in certain documents, that had a list of high-ranking French government officials and other government secrets, Robin gets a little upset. Robin also knew Lia de Beaumont and respected her greatly. When d'Eon asks him about it, he says "There are none in the palace who do not know her". Actually, Robin seems to know all the women in d'Eon's life, since he knows Anna, d'Eon's fiancee, too. They seem to have a sort of sibling relationship, and it's Robin who brings Anna to say goodbye to d'Eon before they leave for Russia.

Robin hates being treated like a child. When d'Eon says, quietly, "Children shouldn't carry such things" (about Robin's pistol) Robin immediately asks, a little angrily, "What did you say?" Later, when Durand chides him for having a naive attitude about the Parisian prostitutes, Robin snaps, "I know! Are you treating me like a child?!" Just minutes after (in reality, I'm sure it was hours, though XD) Durand ruffles Robin's hair. Robin pushes his hand off and glares. In general, when Robin thinks someone is treating him like a child, that someone is usually Durand. However, as time goes on, they treat him more like an adult, and Robin becomes a little less snappish about being treated like a kid. Later in the series, just before Durand runs off with the Psalm, Robin and Durand meet at night. Robin asks if everything is really okay, and Durand gives Robin his NQM watch. Durand ruffles Robin's hair again, this time making much more of a mess of it than the previous time(s?) and Robin lets him do it with minimal glaring, only smoothing it down when Durand has pulled away.

Robin carries a pistol and a small dagger as weapons. He's pretty good with the pistol, but he doesn't fight well when he's under stress. When Lorenza sends the gargoyle-dogs after them in Cologne, he tries to shoot at the letters "H∴O" which will stop the gargoyle, but he panics, and he's saved at the last minute by Durand throwing a knife. Also, Robin still has that sort of hesitance to hurt things/spill blood, which really comes out Durand frees Caron, their prisoner, as a sort of test. Robin chases after Durand and threatens to shoot him, but he can't bring himself to do it, and Durand knows. Possibly due to this, Robin never gets assigned to do things that could require him to kill someone-- for example, in the chaos in the Russian court as Ekaterina overthrows her husband Peter, d'Eon goes after Voronzoff, Teillagory goes after Peter, and Durand goes after Bestuzhev. Robin still has something important to do-- to guard Ekaterina-- but it doesn't require him to outright attack and kill someone, since it's a defensive thing.

That's all about to change when the Four Musketeers go to England. In England, things get serious. Robespierre and the Revoultionary faction are after the four of them. They temporarily steal the briefcase of the Foreign Secretary of Affairs, Robert Wood, so they can see what's inside and what the revolutionary faction may be plotting. Durand and Robin have the responsibility of copying the documents while D'Eon and Teillagory, along with the Comte de Guercy, who is the French Ambassador to England, entertain their royal guests. As Durand and Robin finish, an alchemical spell on the top page activates as it glows with a purple "H∴O" and takes control of Robin's hand. Robin's hand attempts to strangle himself. Durand tries to save Robin, but this is a pretty strong spell. Finally, Durand prepares to cut Robin's hand off, but he hesitates until Robin gives him one last small nod. Just as he's about to land the blow, d'Eon-turned-Lia manages to break the spell under the guise of doing an alchemy thing with the Psalm of Vengeance (I think it's called) with the guests. Durand just barely stops his sword in time, and Robin can keep both his life and his hand.

Unfortunately for our heroes, Lord Sandwich finds out that they broke into Wood's breifcase. Sandwich brings soldiers to arrest the four Frenchmen, but they only succeed in capturing Durand. The other three hide behind a bureau, and though Robin can't see what's going on, he can hear the sounds-- which are not pretty, not pretty at all-- and he ends up curled up on the floor, trying not to cry. It turns out Durand's okay-- for a little while, at least, and Robin is relieved. Until, you know, they're in that church late at night after they think Durand has run off with the Psalm of the King. Durand returns to them, but the NQM tattoo on his shoulder turns into an H∴O mark, and he becomes a gargoyle and attacks Robin. D'Eon and Teillagory fend him off, and d'Eon keeps battling him and at one point attempts to turn Durand back into a normal human. Robin watches the battle in shock and horror, until d'Eon-Lia finally kills Durand. At that point, he's just sort of... dazed. He drops to his knees and crawls forward, screaming, "Durand-sama!"

Durand's death really affects Robin a lot, and Robin starts to question what it means to be a knight. On the ship from England back to France, Robin declares, "I don't want to be a knight" (if I managed to catch what he said correctly). He's pretty sad around this time-- understandably-- and d'Eon and Teillagory worry a bit. But all this time, Teillagory has been allied with the Duke d'Orleans, and he has d'Eon arrested while Robin is out. Robin goes to rescue d'Eon, but Robespierre shows up. Robin gets into position and all, but he can't bring himself to shoot, and Robespierre stops him. When he hears the guards coming, he ends up running to the palace, where he talks with Queen Marie.

Robin returns at night to rescue d'Eon, but they're stopped by Teillagory. Teillagory and d'Eon duel each other, despite Robin's pleas for them to wait and be reasonable. Robin seems to be at a breaking point, he's too numb with shock to be able to do anything. Teillagory pins d'Eon to the wall with a dagger through his arm and the noise draws the attention of the Duke, who comes in. The Duke walks toward d'Eon with a sword in hand and murderous intent (well, he does address d'Eon as "kisama"), and Robin finally brings his pistol up and aims it, shaking, and the Duke. He shoots, and actually kills Teillagory when Teillagory jumps in front of the Duke to protect him. Once he realizes that he's just killed Teillagory, Robin is completely horrified.

Now that the path to escape is clear, D'Eon tells Robin, "Let's go", but Robin is torn between staying with Teillagory or escaping the Duke's palace-thing. He's pretty much crying and yet trying very hard not to cry at this point. This is the first time Robin actually shot at another human being with intent to kill or seriously injure them (there was the H∴O soldier guy in the second episode, but I think Robin was trying for a diversion that time, instead of aiming for a kill). And to make things worse, his first kill was his friend, someone who he'd trusted, and someone who he'd traveled with for 20 episodes. Which is a pretty long time.

Robin goes to see the Queen, again, and the Queen talks to him about time and stuff. Robin falls asleep in the Queen's sitting-room type thing. He doesn't wake up till after nightfall, and he goes around looking for her and stumbles upon the room where King Louis XV has just killed Queen Marie and Anna. Robin sees their bodies, sees the bloody sword, and draws a conclusion. And shoots. Duke de Broglie jumps in front of the King and takes the shot, and though he's not killed, it certainly looked like it. So he blows the whistle to summon the guards. To Robin, it looks like he's now killed two men, and in the space of just a few days. In shock and horror, again, Robin runs away.

He's wandering out in the rain, questioning himself, when Robespierre finds him. Robin puts his gun up to shoot, but again, Robespierre knows he can't and won't. So Robespierre takes him home, gives him a change of clothes, and talks to him. Robespierre explains his point of view, and the things that happened, and such. And Robin, who has just been questioning what it means to be a knight, and loyalty, and all those things, decides to ally with Robespierre. He doesn't go back to d'Eon, but rather, he follows Robepierre, and they break into the palace at Versailles together. Robin has his NQM cross melted to make bullets for his shotgun, too.

At the palace, they meet d'Eon/Lia and Lorenza and Cagliostro. Apart from D'Eon, they're all going against the King. D'Eon-turned-Lia is in the midst of defending the king, using Psalms against Lorenza's Psalms, when the magically-revived Comte de Saint-Germain pops in like a rabid dog. Rabid-Saint-Germain goes up against the King, who stabs him, and then the rest of the people in the room all join in killing the rabid Comte. Comte dies and goes up in purple flames at the foot of the King's bed. Robin, intent on getting revenge for the Queen's death, tries to shoot the King, but his gun isn't working anymore. Broglie stabs Robespierre, and somehow Robespierre is able to remain alive long enough to go outside with d'Eon/Lia, Robin, Lorenza, and Cagliostro. Something is said about the NQM watch-- I think Robespierre says that with the watch, they have what they need to carry out the revolution without him (since he's just been stabbed and all), but I'm not totally sure. Anyway, with watch in hand, Robin finally opens the book with the Psalm in it, and he sees a vision of revolutionary France. D'Eon interrupts his mood by asking Robin to come with him, but Robin runs away with Lorenza and Cagliostro to start the revolution. Robin grows his hair out long and takes on the name Maximilien Robespierre, becoming the historical figure we know of, and true to history, he is guillotined.

D: But that's depressing! So Robin arrives in Avoria while he's wandering out in the rain after shooting Broglie, but before Robespierre finds him. He's all shockhorror upon arriving but he'll be okay.
